Founded on experience.
ORIRI is a contemporary engineering practice founded in the Algarve in 2026, built on the professional experience that precedes it.
A deliberate beginning.
ORIRI is a newly established practice — and that is intentional. It was created to bring nearly two decades of engineering experience into a focused, agile and contemporary practice.
The name carries the idea of origin — the beginning of things, the point where a project starts. It reflects a conviction that the engineering decisions made at the very start of a project shape everything that follows.
To develop integrated engineering solutions that are technically rigorous, efficient and buildable — promoting close collaboration between architecture, engineering and construction, so that engineering enables and enhances the architectural concept.
To become a reference engineering practice in the Algarve — recognised for technical excellence, multidisciplinary coordination, BIM methodology and the ability to integrate engineering and architecture in highly demanding projects.
What guides the work.
Integration
Technical solutions that respect and enhance the architectural concept.
Anticipation
Identifying conflicts during design, before they reach the site.
Rigour
Well-founded solutions and carefully developed documentation.
Collaboration
Working closely with architects, clients and project stakeholders.
Teresa Gaspar Sustelo
Civil Engineer · Founder & CEO
Civil Engineer with nearly two decades of experience in structural design, multidisciplinary project coordination, construction supervision and the management of multidisciplinary teams.
Her approach centres on the integration between architecture and engineering: coordinating disciplines, anticipating technical issues during design, and ensuring buildability and technical rigour in complex contemporary architecture.
She holds a particular interest in technically demanding residential projects — those involving large spans, cantilevers, complex structural systems and distinctive architectural elements.
Full member of the Ordem dos Engenheiros — the Portuguese Order of Engineers.

Architecture establishes the vision. Engineering makes it possible. ORIRI works where the two meet.
A method, from concept to construction.
Engineering value is created early. Our method front-loads the thinking — anticipating technical issues while they are still inexpensive to resolve — and carries it through to a coordinated, well-documented, buildable result.
Analysis
Understanding the architectural design, the client's objectives, existing constraints and the technical and regulatory requirements.
Engineering Strategy
Defining the principal technical and structural solutions from the earliest stages, ensuring they integrate with the architectural concept.
Design Development & Modelling
Developing the engineering design and its corresponding BIM models, wherever applicable.
Coordination & Clash Resolution
Integrating architecture, structures and building services — identifying incompatibilities and optimising the technical solutions.
Detailed Design
Producing rigorous, detailed technical documentation to reduce uncertainty, change and improvisation during construction.
Construction Support
Technical support during construction, coordinating with architects, clients, site supervision teams and contractors.
Precision, not promises.
Integration
Architecture and engineering developed together — technical solutions that enhance the concept.
Experienced coordination
Coordinating multiple disciplines and stakeholders across the life of a project.
Anticipation of issues
Identifying conflicts before they reach the construction stage.
BIM methodology
Digital modelling and coordination used as effective design tools.
Technical rigour
Well-founded solutions and carefully developed documentation.
Structural expertise
Particularly relevant to large spans, cantilevers and complex geometries.
Close collaboration
Working closely with architects, clients and project stakeholders.
Integrated vision
Supporting projects from concept through to construction.
A multidisciplinary network.
ORIRI works with a network of specialised professionals and partners across different engineering disciplines. This allows the practice to scale its involvement to each project — from a single discipline to a fully coordinated, multidisciplinary team — while keeping technical coordination in one place.
